This blog will be all about my adventure of moving to Pilot Valley, just south of Montello, Nevada. I am going to post all of my Research I have done in a short time, so that others that want to move to the area, will have the ground work to make a good choice and know up front that there are and will be challenges. We must learn from each others mistakes, that way we do not fail.

you ever see an ant with a jacket? they follow the favorable temps and survive. but, yeah, kinda makes you think of an ant hill!
ReplyDeleteHello again! I was just curious whether you know if the wind in Montello is a big problem for shelters? Will conventional tents not cut it? What about military grade tents? Any idea about potential wind breaks? Straw bale walls maybe? Any input will be much appreciated. Good luck to you all!
ReplyDeleteThe wind will be an issue for conventional tents. You will need a wind break (tires?). Military tents sound like a better option, but I don't have any experience with them.
ReplyDeleteI DONT KNOW A WHOLE LOT ABOUT THE NEW GOVERMENT TENTS,BUT THE ONES WE USED IN KOREA WORKED REAL WELL.IT WAS SO COLD IN KOREA YOUR BOOTS WOULD FREEZE TO THE GROUND.A GOOD GP TENT SHOULD WORK OUT JUST FINE.
ReplyDeleteMilitary tents would certainly provide a good temporary shelter, with wind in the valley and the soil being so tough, HUGE tent stakes would be a nice modification.
