missing quail

I woke up to a missing quail. came home from the city i unleashed jack dog turned around saw a brown ball in his mouth. guess what it was a quail. his body was badly tattered but he was still alive. his wounds looked superficial. I don't think jack did all the damage it was too short a time frame. he is missing feathers galore. I didn't see any puncture wounds. may have been Jill cat who did the damage and jack rescued the quail? put back the quail in the cage. hope he lives.

tragedy on the farm

tragedy on farm. i apparently have another 2 female rabbits who gave birth unbeknown to me. I put the rabbits outside I didn't see the newborns until today when I went to clean out their cage inside. I dug another 8 graves. I'm the worse farmer ever, that's 13 baby rabbits and 1 baby chicken I've lost.

that was way more traumatic for me then I need. some were calm some angry some clawing me. in tge end they are now cool and running with the ducks. 1 mini bantam rooster was a trouble maker attacking hens on their necks and he tried to fight a big old rooster. I had to put him back in his cage. 1 hen laid an egg after wing feathers were clipped. ducks chickens eating from same feeder but separate water dishes.

got back from small animal auction. got 13 egg laying hens and 2 roosters and 2 cages. not bad for $78

repaired the shed and duck escape

from the wind damage. it bent a piece of siding over the roof. I reattached it. never thought wind would damage through the tree line on that side. could have been worse. I'm getting good at hammering nails too.
while feeding my chickens my ducks figured out after 4 months to hop a little to get out the coop door. they returned through a hole I didn't know about after a 15 minute yard chase. during this time they assisted in a rooster escaping and catching him was a 30 minute adventure. I have now fixed the hole they discovered, attached feeders to fence so I font have to enter the coop to feed. will be closing door behind me after I collect the eggs. I'm up to 4 eggs a day now.
